Phrasal verbs
Phrasal verbs are very important
in the English language. Although they consist of two or more
words- usually verb and preposition combinations- they act as if
they were one word.
- blow up => explode
- work out => be successful
Phrasal verbs can be separable:
- set a meeting up
- get your point of view across
- I turned the volume up
Other phrasal verbs cannot be separated:
- I have to look after my brother
- I showed
up late
